I took Liesel to the vet this morning and it was clear that it was time for her to be put down. She was in a lot of pain, and not able to walk well. The Vet said her muscles were all atrophied, not from the fall into the pool, but from age and there was little to do for a dog that had had a very good life.
We got Liesel as a puppy … only a few weeks old. She was Katie’s companion. We chose a collie for a number of reasons. One of them was the dog book that said, and only child would never be a lonely child with a collie. We told Katie that we would probably have the dog until she left for college.
Little did we know that the day after we dropped off Katie at UNT we’d be putting the dog down. It’s been a good life together. But she has not been doing well, and it is time.
oh, i didn’t know that liesl fell in the pool. i’m sad that she had to be put down, but i guess it was best for her.
love rahel
Ahh. Too many changes too fast. You will all do fine and settle into a new routine before you know it.
I’m sorry to hear this.
I am sorry to hear that. It is hard to lose a dog… We just had one pass last summer. It is strange that she waited until Katie left for college…
