Problem: we wanted a really nice — cheap — vacation. That is, we wanted it to be long enough to feel like a vacation, luxurious enough for it to feel like a splurge, and exciting enough to celebrate the arrival of a new stage of life and marriage.
We did it! Thanks to lots of suggestions from our friends and family which took us as far away as Hawaii and as close as Alabama … we finally decided on our anniversary vacation. We’re going to Las Vegas. Can you believe it? The place we said we least really wanted to go. Hmmm … actually, though, we booked a room for five full days and four nights at the RitzCarlton Resort on Lake Las Vegas … 17 miles from “the strip” and a resort on the lake with the mountains on the horizon. Sounds nice? With our AAA rate for the hotel and using reward travel on Continental we have a very affordable vacation … a rental car for trips into the desert … and we’re set. We leave a couple of days after we drop off Katie at college and will celebrate our anniversary on the 26th of August in the utmost of luxury!
